Studying abroad has always been a dream of mine, and this semester in Prague definitely surpassed my expectations. Our group has been back to the States for about 10 days now. It’s a bittersweet feeling to be back home. Prague will always be my second home, and I will never forget the great memories I made while living there.
After living in Europe for a little over 3 months, I feel some withdrawal from the culture that I became accustomed to. The people were more laid back, and the lifestyle was less stressful. I can’t forget about the delicious Czech food, which is definitely something I would like to make for my family. Reality Check! I am back and there’s less time to travel and more time to work and study.
Along with the lifestyle, Europe as a whole is a unique place to travel. It was amazing how easy it was to travel to Germany, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Greece, and many other countries. Learning the different cultures, eating the traditional foods, and just taking in the experience is what I will miss. This is something that nobody can take away from all of us. These moments have opened my eyes to try new things, to adventure, and to travel more.
As a college student our mission is to learn beyond the parameters we have been accustomed to. This includes our educational knowledge, social experiences, and more. Studying abroad is a great way of expanding your horizons and learning about a distinct cultural, political, and social lifestyle. It was definitely refreshing to see a large number of students come on this Prague trip. I believe everyone should experience life outside of their norms and expand their global knowledge.
I am so thankful to have been able to live in the middle of Europe and travel throughout the continent, something many people cannot afford or fathom to do. Most importantly, I am grateful that the Mount offered such a wonderful opportunity for students like me to explore the world and expand our horizons. Living abroad has been a treat, I loved sharing my experience with everyone on this trip and can’t wait to come back to create more memories.
Thank you for reading about my #PragueJogs and other adventures throughout my blogs. I hope I made an impression on where you would like travel next!
